Welcome to St Michael's

Click here to view a larger picture...Although our church dates back to the 14th century, you will find that we are proud to live and worship with our hearts and minds firmly in the 21st century.

Our parish church is very easy to find - if you have a satnav, simply enter our post code, SG17 5DD. If not, don't despair - we enjoy a prominent position right at the heart of the vibrant and picturesque market town of Shefford in Bedfordshire - click here to view and print our maps.

Part of the United Benefice of Meppershall & Shefford, we aim to offer you the widest possible range of opportunities for worship, friendship, spiritual development, healing and growth, family friendly activities, and social/cultural events to suit all ages and tastes.

Whether you're new to the area and looking for somewhere to put down your spiritual roots, visiting Shefford, or you just think "there's got to be more to life than this", come and spend some time with us and see what being part of a truly open Christian community can add to your life.

Interested, but not sure how to take the first step? Yes, most of us have felt like that at some time or another... all we can suggest is that you take a look at our "what's on", find something that interests you, and have a go...

Whatever you choose, we'll do our very best to make you feel welcome!

...And just imagine what we could offer if your gifts and talents were added to the mix...

 EU Cookie Directive

We are pleased to inform you that this website has never used cookies to track our website visitors. As a result, we can still put welcoming you to our website and hopefully to our Church, ahead of dealing with this tiresome EU directive. There's nothing to click, we just don't do that sort of thing...

Prayer for persecuted People

This church has prayer concerns for persecuted people wherever they may be; people of all nationalities, people of any faith, or none.

Amnesty CandleWe have recently been given an 'Amnesty Candle' by our Vicar, Revd Roni Goodman. The candle represents the suffering of persecuted people throughout the world, and is a focus for our prayer.

While the needs are great yet we are not daunted, for this is God’s world.

So please join with us in prayer for these noted below. We welcome requests for persecuted people known to you.

On this occasion, we focus on prayer concerns for Iranian Christians from the Revd. Bassi Mirzania (who visited us recently).

Pastor Farshid Fathi - house church network leader, in prison since December 2010. Serving a six year sentence. He sustained a broken foot, during a violent raid by prison guards on 17 April 2014. Moved to harsher conditions at Rajai Shahr prison, Karaj, In December a Revolutionary Court added a further year to his sentence. His wife and young children miss him terribly. There are reports that Farshid is suffering ill health

Meanwhile other Christians in Iran continue to face arrest, serious charges, and long periods of detention. Over the Christmas period, 24 arrests have been recorded. Eleven remain in prison. Hence Iranian Christians request our prayers that:

  1. Those arrested will know the Lord’s presence, comfort and support, and that the Lord will guide them during interrogation
  2. The intimidation of Christians in Iran will not result in fear, but that faith may be strengthened and a clear witness might be maintained
  3. All prisoners in Iran will be treated with respect and dignity, as being created in the image of God, and that those in prison on account of their faith in Jesus will be released soon.
  4. All officials involved will love mercy, act justly, learn about Jesus, and choose to follow Him.

“Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.”

Join Us?

Our Messengers group has recently evolved into an informal 'children's activity table'.

This allows the younger children to stay in full view of their parents/minders and gives them the freedom to pop in and out of our well equipped creche/play area if they wish.

The activities are suitable for little ones - if they can hold a crayon and sit or stand at a table they are old enough!

We would love to welcome you and your child..
